100% of us are going to die. In researching my thesis project for my MSN/Ed and CNS, I realize that while 80% of people favor having Advance Directives, only 25% actually have them. (AARP, 2004)
As a Registered Nurse for over 25 years, I have seen firsthand the struggles multiple family members and caregivers have endured because they did not agree on what the patient would have wanted. I hope to prevent this by providing education to the public and encouraging them to sit down and discuss the entire family's wishes in advance. What peace of mind this would give everyone!
I am asking you to support me in my mission to establish first a California Advance Directives Day and, ultimately, a NATIONAL ADVANCE DIRECTIVES DAY.
